I've been using this model for over 10 years because of its warm design, which feels retro yet new. Recently, I received a new model from the distributor, the flagship model of Tivoli Audio."MUSIC SYSTEM BT"I was able to borrow it, so I would like to write a review.

First, let's review what Tivoli Audio is.
Tivoli Audio was founded in 2,000 by Audio Hall of Fame inductee Henry Cross and his longtime business partner Tom DeVest.
While a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Henry Cross designed the first acoustic suspension loudspeaker for FM radio broadcasts of live performances by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
He subsequently founded four other successful consumer electronics companies: Acoustic Research, KLH, Kloss Video, and Cambridge SoundWorks.
Like those companies, Tivoli Audio was founded to create high quality, easy to use and affordable products.

The origins of Tivoli Audio have always been in radio.
In the 1950s, Henry Kloss, founder of Tivoli Audio, was unusual for the time in focusing on speaker systems and working on producing vacuum tube radios to achieve both radio reception and sound quality.
This philosophy has been passed down to the present day, and Tivoli Audio sound systems are now regarded as a fusion of radio and sound quality.
Exterior design evaluation review
First of all, the use of "walnut" wood, which is synonymous with Tivoli Audio products, can be mentioned. This is a very expensive wood with a smooth texture, and in terms of sound quality, the use of walnut creates a warm sound.
Personally, walnut is my favorite luxury wood.
The texture of the wood blends in with the interior, and the interface of the MUSIC SYSTEM BT has a nostalgic feel to it, while its luxurious design and layout, and meticulous finishing down to the smallest details, enhance its perfection as an interior piece.
Every time I listen to the sound, I realize that the uncompromising, beautiful design and materials are not just a pursuit of beauty, but are also a reflection of functionality.
On the Model One, this wheel serves as the radio tuning wheel, while on the MUSIC SYSTEM BT, it serves as the volume control wheel.
The feel of turning it is different from the Model One, with a moderate clicking sensation that is very comfortable to turn.
All other buttons also have a nice click to them, giving them a sense of durability.
I think that the delicate operation feel is a very important aspect of an audio device.
Review based on functionality
Here, I would like to review the Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT from the perspective of its functionality.
Improved sound quality while maintaining radio performance
When you think of Tivoli Audio, I think many people will think of radio.
I agree, but radio comes first. The MUSIC SYSTEM BT was renewed in 2021, with every detail refined.
While maintaining its functionality as a radio, further improvements have been made to the product, including reviewing the various operating systems and changing the material of the antenna.
Of course, without losing the high-quality appearance of the Model One.
Now is the time to dive into the world of CDs
The CD market has now been largely replaced by the online market, but I still have a deep attachment to my CD assets and can't just throw them away.
The CD format is one of the few digital sound source formats that allows you to listen to the sound beautifully.
Generally, most audio files imported into PCs and other devices are still in MP3 format, which cuts out the high-pitched sounds.

This difference may be trivial, but if you want to listen to the original sound faithfully, your choices are high-resolution audio or CD.

Equipped with woofer equalization function
The Tivoli Audio Model One also had a bass-reflex woofer, but the Music System BT has an even larger 5-inch woofer unit mounted on the bottom.
This, combined with the equalization function described below, produces a more powerful sound than conventional products.
The equalization function has five types of equalization: Space Phase Wide mode, mono mode for easy listening of vocals, and stereo mode for three-dimensional sound.
This is a nice feature that wasn't available on the Model One. You can try out different combinations and create your own sound system.
Other appearance specifications
The back of the Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT is equipped with a dial for adjusting the woofer level, and by turning this you can adjust the intensity of the bass.
It also has AUX-IN and MIX-IN terminals, allowing input of external audio sources.
Although the rear interface is simple, it covers all the basics well.
The Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT also has a clock function and a SNOOZE button on the top of the unit.
How about a lifestyle where you wake up in the morning with your alarm going off, a cup of coffee in hand and listening to your favorite music?
There is also an earphone jack on the lower front panel, so you can immerse yourself in the world of audio or radio while reading late at night. It's truly a chill-time gadget.
Radio evaluation review
First, I would like to give a review of the radio.
In particular, I wanted to test how different the MUSIC SYSTEM BT was compared to the Model One, including sound resolution.
First, reception sensitivity. In the Model One, tuning was done with a dial, but this unit has a "TUNE" button that automatically tunes to the optimal frequency by simply pressing and holding the button.
This is very convenient. (The dial-type Model One also has the same cathartic pleasure of turning it...)
It will select the station instantly without any hesitation.
As for the sound quality of the radio, the DJ's voice is full and clear, and the woofer is effective for the inserted background music and sound effects, giving the radio a solid sound quality overall.
Overall, the radio is far superior to the Model One.
The sound is truly impressive, being a flagship model.
CD sound quality review
I actually played a CD audio source and evaluated the sound.
What kind of sonic joy will the Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT bring to you?
■Jun Togawa & Guernica Best Album
We selected Jun Togawa, a maverick who brought a breath of fresh air to the music industry from the 1980s to the 2000s. Tivoli Audio was founded in 2000, so it's an interesting marriage of two overlapping eras.
The first thing that stands out is that the vocals are clear, just like on the radio.
Cheap audio systems that emphasize bass often come at the expense of drowned out vocals, but the Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT has an independent woofer system, which I felt was characterised by clear sound regardless of equalisation.
On the other hand, the bass is not equalized, so you can enjoy music for long periods of time without getting tired. The bass is very gentle on the ears, or to put it another way, the mild bass is pleasant.
I listened to the speakers in "wide" equalization mode, and they had a very three-dimensional sound field that was unimaginable from a speaker of this size, and the sound field spread throughout the room. I was honestly surprised by this.
Combined with the aforementioned "clear vocals," the sound separation is excellent, and the rich bass and clear sound quality make you want to listen to them forever.
I tried a slightly mischievous tactic of testing the sound quality using a fairly old mastering source, Jun Togawa, but the results were enough to nod in support of the excellent sound qualities of the Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT.
Summary
The Tivoli Audio MUSIC SYSTEM BT is wrapped in comfortable walnut and offers high-quality interior furnishings and the dignity of a top-of-the-line model.
There's so much more you can do with it than the Model One, it makes listening to music even more enjoyable.
Of course, it is also possible to play digital audio sources via Bluetooth.
Although it is a comprehensive audio system, it has a beautiful form that is perfectly coordinated with the design without being overshadowed in any way.
It is expensive, but if you think of it as a one-off purchase that you will have for the rest of your life, it is a wonderful choice for your life.
