Have you heard of the Chinese audio manufacturer "OneOdio"? Although it is a young manufacturer that was founded just over 10 years ago, it has released a variety of cost-effective headphones, earphones, and accessories, and is a company that is currently on the rise among the younger generation.
The manufacturer's concept is "high-quality headphones at an affordable price for the younger generation!" and we are excited to see their growth in the future.
OneOdio has now launched the "SuperEQ" brand, and released the ANC & ambient sound capture compatible Bluetooth headphones "S1" at an amazing cost performance, so I would like to review them.
Where does the OneOdio SuperEQ S1 stand?

"OneOdio SuperEQ S1"Although these are entry-level headphones priced at around 5 yen (Amazon price), they are ambitious Bluetooth headphones that feature ANC (anti-noise canceling) and ambient functions (external sound capture).
I reviewed this product today, and my conclusion is that it is a well-made product with excellent build quality and sound quality.

Build quality of OneOdio SuperEQ S1

Let's start with the exterior. The outer box features a colorful design.

SuperEQ S1 includes:
- SuperEQ S1 unit
- Leather-look drawstring bag
- Micro USB for charging
- 3.5mm earphone jack
- 3.5mm dual jack for aircraft
- Complete set of instruction manuals
Was included.
It's very rare to find a dual 3.5mm aviation jack in this price range.
By the way, the SuperEQ S1 is equipped with a 380mAh battery and is tough enough to provide up to 2 hours of continuous playback on a charge of just two hours.

Regarding the build quality and design of the SuperEQ S1.
I chose the white model this time, and the smooth matte texture of the body and the bright red of the head cushion stand out, giving it a very fashionable finish.
There is no plastic feel, so it doesn't feel cheap.

It is available in two colors.
The black one, which I didn't choose this time, is also pretty cool.

The housing of the SuperEQ S1 is made of metal, giving it a luxurious feel.
This is the best part of the exterior design. It's the face of the headphones, so it's a very important point.

The inner cushion is printed with the SuperEQ S1 logo.

In addition, the SuperEQ S1 can be folded in half, so it is designed to take up as little space as possible when placed in a bag.

In terms of build quality, the overall matte texture and attention to detail in even the size adjustment bars give the product a sense of perfection that exceeds its price.
Additionally, the design has a beautiful look with a striking two-tone white and red color scheme, and overall it has a high-end feel while capturing the sensibilities of young people.
OneOdio SuperEQ functionality, operability, and fit

The side of the SuperEQ S1 has a number of control buttons which allow you to control everything from music playback to calls, which will be described later.
- The center button is play/pause, press and hold to turn the power on and off
- The bottom button is for volume down, and pressing and holding it will skip songs.,Bluetooth pairing
- Top button: Volume up, press and hold to jump to previous song
- The button a little further down turns ANC on and off
Has become.

There is a micro USB charging port on the bottom side of the SuperEQ S1. It's a bit of a waste. I would have preferred if it was USB Type-C to support fast charging.
In addition, since it has a 3.5mm jack, you can also listen to music via a wired connection using the included 3.5mm cable.
Operability

This may be a matter of getting used to it, but I found it difficult to operate while wearing the headphones, and it was a little hard to figure out which button was which by feel.
This is simply a design issue, so we look forward to future successor models.
Feeling of wearing

Regarding the fit of the SuperEQ S1, although the side pressure is a little strong, the cushioning of the memory foam ear pads is comfortable, and I wore them for about two hours and my ears didn't hurt.

The SuperEQ S1's head bar has just the right amount of elasticity, and I wore it for about two hours without any pain on the top of my head.
The size can also be adjusted to suit a wide range of movement, so it can be worn by people with any head shape.
The housing also has some play in its range of motion, which allows for a better fit.
It weighs around 300g, so it's very light and doesn't put any strain on your head.
OneOdio SuperEQ S1 sound quality review

After aging the SuperEQ S1 for about 18 hours, I listened to it in Bluetooth mode, so I would like to share my impressions.
Sound resolution
The sound separation is quite clear, and each instrument doesn't seem to get lost in the mix. The resolution is so clear that you can even hear the strings of the guitar and the lip sounds of the vocals.
It has a very sharp sound, and is particularly good for POPS and EDM, as it has a sparkling, crisp sound.
Mid-high range
However, this does not compromise the thickness of the sound itself, and combined with the excellent support of the bass range, which will be described later, the mid- to high-range sounds are produced with an impressive thickness.
There is no shrill feeling at all, and the sound is impressively rounded. The mid-to-high range is often easily affected by cost-cutting measures and can easily become muffled, but this product delivers superb sound quality without compromising on that.
I think this is amazing.
sense of location
The sound positioning is also good, which reinforces the above impression.
You can feel where each instrument is coming from, so you can enjoy three-dimensional sound. Honestly, I think it's rare to find such a good sense of positioning at this price range.
bass
As for the bass, which is of concern, as it is equipped with a 40mm driver unit, it can produce powerful and voluminous bass depending on the music.
The bass is tight and crisp rather than thumping.
Very rhythmic and high contrast bass.
The headphones produce elegant, rich bass tones that are comparable to those of higher-priced headphones, and the impression is of a gentle, sometimes powerful, deep bass that envelops the brain.
OneOdio SuperEQ S1 review
The overall sound quality of the SuperEQ S1 is so good that it makes you wonder if these are really headphones that cost around 5 yen, and there is absolutely no shrill high notes or muffled low notes that are common with cheap headphones.
What you get is a tight sound from low to high tones.
However, the thickness of the sound also gives it a warm, comfortable feel. The sound field is not as wide as that of high-end open-ear headphones, but it still feels relatively wide among closed-type headphones.
It just feels like the wide range of sound produced is similar to that of mid-range headphones or higher.
This sound quality at this price range could be called a true masterpiece.
ANC mode (anti-noise canceling)

ANC is a mode that blocks out outside noise so you can immerse yourself in your music.
You can turn noise canceling on and off by pressing the switch on the bottom side of the SuperEQ S1. (When turned off, it is in ambient sound capture mode.)
The ANC performance cuts out noise up to a maximum volume of 33db.
My impression of the noise reduction is that it only cuts out low frequency noise.
It cuts out almost all of the noise from fans, air conditioners, keyboard typing, etc. I think it can even completely eliminate the sound of airplanes.
There's no clogging feeling in your ears like with old noise-canceling headphones, but they don't emit white noise either.
The sound of the TV, for example, seems to come from a little further back.
The frequency range for noise reduction has not been announced, but from my personal experience it feels like it's around 1,000Hz.
By the way, 1,000Hz is about the frequency of a female speaking voice.

Ambient mode (external sound capture)

The SuperEQ S1's ambient mode lets in outside sounds without removing the headphones, making it easier to hear your surroundings.
This is my first experience with headphones that have an ambient sound capture mode, and it certainly makes it easier to hear outside sounds, as if the housing had been removed. *This is a slightly filtered sound.
However, the trade-off is that the bass is weaker when playing music compared to when ANC is turned on.
In terms of characteristics, the sound is similar to that of open-ear headphones. For me, I mostly listen to headphones indoors, so this is a function that I don't really need.
Call function

The SuperEQ S1 is equipped with a microphone, allowing you to make calls in wireless mode.
I actually tried making a call with editor M, and found that the sound quality was comparable to that of a regular headset.
Ordinary headphones that focus on bass tend to produce muffled, deep vocals, but these headphones deliver clear sound quality.
Summary of OneOdio SuperEQ S1
To be honest, I was unsure what to expect from headphones in this price range, but the OneOdio SuperEQ S1 completely overturned that notion.
It has a fashionable and luxurious body, highly practical cushions and adjustment mechanisms, and sound quality that rivals that of high-end headphones. It's a very excellent gadget.
My honest opinion is that it's difficult to find Bluetooth headphones that support ANC and external sound capture in this price range.
It also supports high-resolution audio sources, allowing for an even better music experience.
*High-resolution audio sources are only supported when connected via AUX cable.
I'm interested in high-end audio equipment, but I don't have the budget to spend that much...
If you are one of those people, we recommend you try the OneOdio SuperEQ S1.
You'll be amazed by the high quality of the housing and the sound quality.
