Hello everyone, this is TOMO from the editorial staff.
I usually work in video production. For example, in the final process of creating a promotional video for a company, we record a professional narrator's narration into the video and finish the video.
However, since there will be several rounds of revisions going back and forth between the client and the production staff during this process, I will record a "temporary narration audio" into the footage to guide the process.
That's why you need a high-performance microphone.
For everyday work, a microphone that has as little noise as possible and can pick up sound clearly is an essential requirement.
So this time I would like to review the state-of-the-art USB condenser microphone, the FIFINE K683A.
Noiseless, high quality unidirectional microphone

I have actually used this FIFINE K683A in a Mac + GarageBand environment and my conclusion is as follows:It was a completely noiseless, high-quality condenser microphone.
Because it is unidirectional, it picks up only the sound coming from the front and neatly drowns out unnecessary surrounding sounds.
In addition, the recorded audio is very clear and thick, making it possible to record high-quality audio.
Although the price is entry-level, my first impression is that it is a cost-effective product aimed at those who want to use voice chat or audio streaming to generate serious revenue.
I feel that the sound quality is comparable to condenser microphones in the 1 to 1.5 yen range.
It also looks professional and good.
What is a condenser microphone?
Condenser microphones are professional microphones that are primarily used for recording. They require a power supply, and for computers, power is supplied via USB connection.
In addition, it supports a wide range of frequencies from low to high, and is highly sensitive enough to pick up even the most delicate sounds and the slightest lip slurs.
It has the advantage of being able to record a wide range of sound that cannot be achieved with dynamic microphones.
Actual audio comparison

I actually compared the sound quality.
The product in question is the Sony condenser microphone "ECM-PCV10U," which I have been using for over 80 years.
It looks pretty worn out but please forgive me lol
This is also a unidirectional condenser microphone, allowing for wide-range recording.
We asked our editorial staff member NAO to recite a poem on both devices.
The comparison was obvious. The sound from the "SONY ECM-PCV80U" contained a lot of white noise, but the sound from the "FIFINE K683A" was completely noiseless.
It's amazing how far microphones have come these days.
As long as the surrounding environment can be properly soundproofed, this should be sufficient for recording the final narration.
It picks up even the fine details of the lip, providing excellent sound reproduction.
Package Contents

The appearance of the "FIFINE K683A" packaging is clean, and the design, which makes use of white as a predominant color, enhances the vividness of the product photo.

When you open the box, you'll find the chic-looking product housed in a sponge.
The contrast of the black with the white exterior of the package is beautiful.

The package is simple and includes the microphone itself, a tripod, a pop filter, a USB cable for connecting to a PC, and an instruction manual.
Assembly is very easy and can be done even without the instructions.
Introduction of each part

The pop guard is designed to be clamped from above with a rubber band, so you can simply slip it on.
Most pop filters that you attach to microphones tend to be quite a nuisance, but this one has a semicircular design which saves space and is appealing.

The USB cable is compatible with USB Type-A and Type-C on the PC connection side, so it is very helpful that it can be connected to older generation PCs.
My PC is 10 years old, so I can't connect the latest Type-C devices to it yet ^^;

Here is the assembled "FIFINE K683A".
The matte finish gives it a professional look and makes it feel very premium.
One thing that I found a bit disappointing was that the base that supports the microphone is tripod-style, so it takes up a surprisingly large amount of surface area considering the compactness of the product.
Given the product layout, a tripod is probably necessary to achieve the right weight balance, but I think they could have put a little more effort into this.

There is a volume control dial and a mute button on the front of the microphone. There is no power switch, so the microphone will start as soon as you connect it via USB.
I'm of the opinion that a microphone power switch is not necessary, so this is a good idea.

There is an earphone jack on the back of the microphone, so you can feed back your temporary narration.
Summary
The difference in sound quality between this product, the FIFINE K683A, and existing products was very clear and evident in the results.
To be honest, with this quality, even a freelance narrator could probably record at home. It was a pretty high-quality gadget.
In terms of sound quality, as long as the spatial environment is right, I think it is possible to record in the best possible sound environment currently available.
I have a rough voice so I don't like recording temporary narration in my own voice haha
This was such a high-quality product that we vowed to have NAO, an editor with a beautiful voice, use this microphone to record his narration for work in the future.
