[Desk Tour] A Gadget Blogger's Comfortable Desk Environment

Desk Tour Eye-Catcher

This time I would like to share with you a desk tour of my work environment.
The term "desk environment" can be used in a general sense, but each person's personality and ingenuity are different. A space created to suit the style of work or hobbies naturally reflects a person's preferences and personality.

In this article, I will introduce my own desk environment one by one, talking about how I arrange it and the points I keep in mind when creating the environment.
I've also been searching through old photos to pull them out, so some of them are not of high enough resolution.
This is the gadget blogger's room.
Well then, let's get started. Let's start our fun desk tour.

This room is my desk environment, where I work and study. I really don't like the cold light of fluorescent lights, so I unified the entire space with incandescent lighting. This choice created a warm and calming atmosphere, and I think it created a space where you can work for long periods of time without losing your comfort. I think this was in the heyday of mixi, when blogs didn't exist at night yet.

At that time, I used a Mac and a Windows PC on this desk for different purposes. The Mac was mainly used for clerical work and graphic design, and the Windows (this was the XP era!) for video production. By using them in this way, not only did my work efficiency improve dramatically, but I was also very satisfied with the fact that I was able to create an environment that maximized the characteristics of each device.

Another attractive feature of this desk environment is the high degree of freedom that comes with the large work space. The space allows for free movement, creating a sense of "room" both physically and mentally. In addition, by burning aromas and playing jazz, the desk environment was created with the aim of creating a "personal modern space" that is not just a workspace but also a place of comfort.

Finally, if you could give us some tips on creating this space,Lighting and colourJust by changing to incandescent lighting, the impression of the entire space will be softened and it will also affect work efficiency. Also, if you have a lot of gadgets and items, you can create a sense of cleanliness and sharpness by unifying the desk color to white. The desk in this photo faithfully puts this basic rule into practice.

This photo captures a more personal side of my desk setup.
I wasn't feeling well at the time, so I dismantled all my desks and created a minimalist, comfortable desk environment, where I mostly wrote poetry in the kotatsu space.

The first thing you see is your favoriteコーヒーマグIt's simple yet stylish, and it's one of my favorites. The aroma of coffee rising from this mug (not available anymore) has become a little ritual for me to concentrate on my work. I don't just drink coffee, I like to reset my mind with the aroma and warmth. I was unsure whether to include a kotatsu in my desk environment, but I actually worked here for about half a year, so I decided to include it lol

Also, you can see it in the backThree-tiered gadget standI also like the design of the furniture. I chose a design that allows me to keep the things I need close at hand, but also blends in as a part of my daily life. I think these items are important for achieving both efficiency and beauty.

And let's not forget the contrast between the natural light coming in through the window and the incandescent lighting that complements it. This space is not just functional, but also values "warmth." The soft light coming through the blinds and the light from the incandescent bulbs mix together to create a comfortable atmosphere where you can relax even while working.

What's important here is the balance between a minimal, quiet space and efficiency. Rather than just cramming in useful things with an emphasis on efficiency, it's important to maintain a quiet space that doesn't impair comfort. It's also important to value natural light. These are my priorities for this desk environment. This photo is one of my favorites, symbolizing a quiet moment in my daily life.

I got this desk when I moved to a building in Nakano Ward that was made of bare concrete.Specialized video production environmentAfter moving in, we thoroughly considered how we could create a space that would allow us to be efficient and concentrate, and we came up with this design.

The big TV you see on the left isMonitor for checking videoIt was used as a TV monitor. Checking the finished video on an actual TV size is an important process that affects the quality. The Apple display in the center (nostalgic!) was mainly used for editing. It served as the core for checking the details of the timeline and effects.

The display on the right was used as an auxiliary monitor to check emails and manuscripts to help me work smoothly. The division of roles between these three displays supported my work efficiency at the time. It was around this time that I started writing on Ameba Blog and other platforms, and got my start as a blogger.

When creating this packed work environment, I was conscious of not destroying the overall harmony. For example, by making the desks white, it gives the impression of spaciousness even though it is physically packed. Also, by deliberately adding simple accents somewhere, it is also important to reduce visual fatigue.

★Comfortable desk environment points★

I would say that this desk is a perfect example of the result of pursuing a balance between functionality and beauty. I would encourage anyone who is planning to build a packed desk environment to pay special attention to "color" and "accents." Incidentally, it was around this time that I started to pay attention to desktop audio.

This is the desk environment I created after moving to Meguro Ward. As an antithesis to the "bulky" environment I had up until then,Cleanliness and minimalismI created a space that pursued this. My previous desk was packed with functionality and prioritized work efficiency, so I tried to create an environment that would free me from that pressure. I feel like this space has the most "feminine" atmosphere I've ever had (laughs).

The first thing that catches your eye is the lighting (I love lighting lol). Of particular note are the PHILIPS "Hue" lights,SwitchBotAmazon AlexaThis system combines the above features. This allows you to control Hue lights installed anywhere in the room with your voice. The introduction of this system has dramatically improved the usability of not only the desk area but the entire room. When I first introduced it, I remember being impressed and saying, "This is revolutionary!"

The concept of this desk is to be as minimal as possible. It is a simple desk that makes the most of the texture of wood, and unnecessary decorations have been eliminated as much as possible. Instead, potted plants are boldly incorporated to reduce the visual weight. These potted plants play an important role in highlighting the overall cleanliness while also creating a natural warmth.

If you want to make your space look good, adding just one potted plant is enough to make a big impact. Potted plants are the best!
Also, the mixi blog? Diary was coming to an end around this time.

The key points for construction are:aesthetics of subtraction" was a major challenge. While it's easier to add more things, it's surprisingly difficult to pare it down to the bare essentials. However, by focusing on minimalism, we were able to create this natural and light space.

★Comfortable desk environment points★

In the end, this desk environment is not only clean in appearance, but also a space that I can truly relax in. If you like potted plants and natural items, I recommend you take a look at this minimalist approach.

Desk Tour No.05

This is the desk environment I created in a shared office in Akasaka, away from home. (Sorry if it looks a bit like home.) Because it's difficult to switch on and off in a home office, I decided to set up a desk in an external shared office. As a result, I was able to create a comfortable desk environment that prioritizes functionality, which is different from my private space. I also started to write about gadget articles on my Ameba blog, and although I wasn't yet conscious of affiliate marketing, I started to write about the things I bought.

Due to the nature of a shared office, it is difficult to have plants or use a lot of desk gadgets as per my preferences. Therefore, this desk may be the simplest and most "normal" compared to my previous desk environments.

However, we have implemented some ideas to maximize work efficiency. For example,Monitor PlacementOne of them is that the monitors are not placed too close to each other and there is a moderate amount of space between them, which makes the entire work space look larger even in this small room. With just this little ingenuity, you can create a comfortable working environment in a limited space.

The large iMac in the center is the main monitor that supports editing work, while the monitors on the left and right are used as auxiliary monitors. The left monitor is used to display reference materials and perform subtasks, and the right monitor is used to check renderings. This division of roles has created an efficient and focused work environment across the entire desk.

★Comfortable desk environment points★

Although there are limitations unique to a shared office environment, by incorporating "ways to make the space look larger" and "efficient monitor placement," an environment where people can continue working without stress has been created. I think this kind of simple desk environment is an example that anyone can easily emulate!

This is the most exciting desk environment I've created, once again based at home. Although it's hidden and out of sight, this space, with a few gadgets scattered across the desk, has become an important place that stimulates my creative drive. The desk itself is still compact, but with a lot of ingenuity I've managed to create a triple display. This environment is very comfortable for me, and it's one of the desk layouts I've used the longest. I feel like I've created a comfortable desk environment where I can immerse myself in the perfect environment for blogging.

One of the main features around the desk isFoliage plantThanks to this plant, the functional work space is given a natural warmth, softening the overall atmosphere. Indoor plants are truly great, and having just one makes the space feel like it's in bloom. Hooray for indoor plants! Lol
I've lost it now, but I want it again.

Another key point is the "window"-like panel installed in front of the desk. This item plays an important role in visually expanding the space and relieving the feeling of being closed in. I like how it gives you the feeling of being in a resort, even though there is no actual window open.

The key to recreating this layout isHave fun organizing your photos to create a "collage-like" lookIt's easy to look cluttered when you have a lot of gadgets and items, but you can create a sense of unity by paying attention to the placement and color scheme and organizing them. Lighting is also an essential element in creating a space. By combining PHILIPS' "Hue" lights with SwitchBot and Amazon Alexa, you can control the lighting with your voice, which has greatly improved usability.

★Comfortable desk environment points★

If you want to recreate this layout, I would first recommend adding a potted plant to your desk. That alone will make a huge difference in the impression of the space. It's also a good idea to place an item in front of you that gives a sense of visual spaciousness. This space, which incorporates a good balance of useful gadgets and soothing elements, is a creative base for me. I hope this will be helpful for those who are struggling with their desk environment!

This is my current desk environment. It is different from my previous desk, which was mainly white.Burnt textureI decided to adopt this desk. The dark texture of this desk gives off a somewhat dandy and calm atmosphere, and I really like it. It's a little less feminine (lol), but it's a fresh challenge that's different from my previous style. I carefully selected the gadgets on my desk, and my work and blogging environment is now complete.

The main points are:Raise the iMac on a glass standThis innovation has created new space for gadgets above and below the desk, making it easier to store small items. It makes efficient use of the limited space on the desk while still giving it a neat appearance, which is something I'm very satisfied with. However, there is one drawback to this glass stand. The stand casts a shadow, soThe keyboard is a little hard to seeThis was a problem I was able to solve with some practice, but it still required some patience.

However, as a certain brand says, fashion starts with patience, the same can be said about desk environments. I can't compromise on the atmosphere this desk creates, so I'm going to live with it with the attitude of "enjoying patience as well."

Also, place it on a glass stand.Digital clockAlthough simple, it serves as a visual accent. And the colorful storage containers and small items visible on the right side of the desk add a touch of playfulness to the dark texture.

★Comfortable desk environment points★

This environment is designed to balance functionality and appearance, while also allowing you to enjoy the challenge of trying new styles. It has a different feel from the "girly" spaces we've seen up until now, but I hope it will be of use to those who like dark tones.

Summary

Looking back on this desk tour, I realized that my own lifestyle and work style are directly reflected in my desk environment. (And I regret that I should have taken better photos.) The evolution of my desk, which has been a result of trial and error in pursuit of efficiency and aesthetics as I moved and changed my work environment, is like a record of my growth.

What I felt all the time was that "the most important thing about a desk environment is that it is comfortable and you don't get bored of it." Even if the space is small, you can surprisingly improve your work efficiency by carefully selecting your items and arranging them in an appropriate way. I also realized that softening the atmosphere of the space with potted plants and clever lighting is an essential point in creating a comfortable environment.

For those who are thinking about setting up their desk environment, I would like to say, "Just make sure it reflects what you like." Figure out what you need, whether you want to prioritize work efficiency or a relaxing space, and build your environment around that. Also, even just incorporating small touches like potted plants and lighting can make a big difference in the overall atmosphere of the space.

Finally, I think that a desk environment is just "your favorite place." It's very exciting and fun to think about how to layout it with the things you like. I want to continue decorating my comfortable desk environment in my own way and continue to make history as a gadget blogger while working.
