General comment
The initial command for ChatGPT had too little narration text to fit into a 3-minute script, so we added additional commands to increase the amount of text.
Even so, the writing in each block was not stable, and just when I thought they would dig deeper, the writing stopped. Also, they only wrote in very shallow and general terms, so it couldn't even serve as a rough draft for a job. There was only one research source and no link, so I wondered if they were even motivated. At the very least, it's tough to use for design in advertising production.
Gemini, on the other hand, created a very impressive script with just one command. The narration was very emotional, and the scenery of the scene seemed to come to mind. The content was solid, and it dug deep into my rough requests, so it was of a good enough quality to use as a starting point. (I'm still not satisfied with the amount of text, but it's a good AI if I feel I can just edit it from here.)

Conclusion
Gemini emerged victorious in the battle to create a script using generative AI.
It looks like ChatGPT will have a hard time improving its quality from here.

In advertising design, logo design is one of the most popular projects, and I think any designer aiming to work in advertising would want to try making one at least once.
AI may be able to do that. (Maybe?) This time, I asked ChatGPT and Gemini to create the logo for "Gadget Mania Z".
Now, what kind of things will they propose?

General comment
Even if you ask ChatGPT to create multiple designs, they only propose one image. Also, the output logo itself was blurred and smudged, so the image quality was unusable, and the design also partially reused the Amazon and Nike logos that were given as "examples," so it wasn't of a usable quality.
Gemmini's images all looked similar, and it took a long time to generate them, so I stopped generating them after 6 images. These are more like patterns than logos.
Conclusion
This time, neither of the results were worthy of evaluation. I think it will take some time to improve the quality to a level that can be used in advertising production.
By the way, if you have the paid version of ChatGPT, you can use customized ChatGPT called GPTs. For example, you can use AI models specialized for image production and AI models specialized for lighting for free. In this case, the results may have been slightly different. At least, after seeing the results this time, I don't feel like using it for advertising design.
Postscript: I used ChatGPT to create several images for this article, including the key visual. (These images are annotated as Generated by ChatGPT.) ChatGPT seems to be quite good at generating abstract CG and illustration-like images. Images were generated according to the command statements.
However, when I tried to issue the same command in Gemini, it returned a ridiculous landscape image, which was not useful. Therefore, ChatGPT wins in terms of image generation.
Update on February 2024, 11:As I researched, I found that there are many other AI image generation services besides these two. One of them is "Microsoft Create" is a service that shows good quality and is quite useful. Anyone with a Microsoft account can use it for free. I thought the prompt boost service, which reinforces the command you enter, was interesting. Below, I created a logo with the image of ChatGPT and Gemini facing each other. ↓

I found that ChatGPT and Gemini both have their pros and cons. However, that may just be because I haven’t mastered using them yet.
So I thought about how generative AI can be used as a design tool for advertising production, including some optimistic views about the future.
- Slogan ideas for presentation materials, advertisements, etc.:ChatGPT excels at generating catchy slogans that are full of ideas. It is used for brainstorming ideas and combining them from the finished product.
- Text generation for pamphlets, etc.:Both ChatGPT and Gemini have a high level of text generation ability. This can be used to generate lead and body text for pamphlets, etc.
- Summarize long text and reuse it in any medium:Both ChatGPT and Gemini are good at summarizing long texts. The summarised texts expand the ideas that can be used in various media.
- Image generation for presentation materials:ChatGPT is limited to CG and illustrations, but it is possible to create catchy images. The resolution is a little low when enlarging the image, so it is best for presentations.
- Script creation for advertising videos and YouTube shows:ChatGPT can also write a script, but in my opinion Gemini is more natural and emotional. If you devise a command sentence, you can create a draft version.
- General proposal:Both ChatGPT and Gemini have proven their high writing ability. Even if you give the AI's catchy copy, summary, and image generation capabilities (ChatGP), as well as proper command sentences, it can also generate long sentences, making it possible to create proposals that keep people in the office working all night.
For this reason, generative AI is widely useful as a tool for advertising production and design.
However, since the generating AI is not perfect, it may sometimes suggest incorrect information. Please be sure to check the source of the information yourself.
Summary: The future of generative AI in advertising creation
Before coming to my conclusion, I played around with both the ChatGPT and Gemini apps a bit.
When I first used it, I felt that this was something that needed to be incorporated into advertising production right away, and that the "future" had truly arrived.
The comparison showed that both had limited benefits, and that they still needed to be polished up, but they were still a huge step forward compared to AI (?) like Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri, and I had a feeling that this trend would become a trend in advertising production within the next few years. In fact, they are already being used in projects for major companies. (I will introduce some examples later.)
It is said that the evolution of AI will reach equilibrium by 2030 and surpass the human brain.
This would likely lead to an increase in lazy people in the world, but it will only be a matter of time before AI appears to manage this.
Overall, I had fun with the generative AI, so I'd like to try to master it.
