First impression
The outer box was relatively large, thick and sturdy, and the gold leaf logo was printed on it simply and elegantly, as if to build up anticipation for the product. Oh, I should have mentioned earlier that the Nixie tube clock I bought was made by "ClocTeck". It was also quite affordable at 8,999 yen.
Here comes the product! My first impression was the beautiful combination of the wood grain body and glass tube, and I was excited to see what kind of shine it would create.
There was a fuzzy cord inserted into the glass tube, and I imagined that this was what was going to light up. Hmm, this had a good feeling!
The items that were missing were a USB cable for power supply, a cloth for wiping the glass tube, and an instruction manual. The instruction manual was a little difficult to understand, so it was more efficient to ask ChatGPT for help.
Setting method
ClocTeck's Nixie tube clock has switches on the body that allow it to be set using analog buttons, but in reality it is set by connecting via Wi-Fi.
Turn on the power: Connect the included USB cable to the watch and plug it into a power outlet.
Connect via smartphone or PC: Open the Wi-Fi settings screen of your device, search for the "ClockTech_9B3D" access point and connect to it.
- The default is Chinese, so you can switch to English if you prefer.
- Specify the main 2G Wi-Fi you use in "Wi-Fi Name".
- Enter your router password in "Wi-Fi Password".
- Click the "Connect" button to authenticate.
- Set "Time Zone Setting" to the time closest to your area.
- There is a small text below saying whether you want 24-hour or 12-hour format, so select it.
- There are four different colors to choose from in the "Mode selection" so set it to your preference.
- There are three different light patterns written in small letters below so you can choose the one you like.
- Once you've finished setting things up, press the button that's in Chinese for some reason, select "Cancel" and you're done.
