Is everyone feeling hydrated? It's the season when advertisement copy like this comes out.
I have dry skin and in the winter, I get unbearable itching all over my body. I'm sure there are many people out there who are struggling with the same situation.
However, air conditioners and heating appliances continue to take away even more of our moisture.
Humidifiers are a useful tool during this season, but did you know that there are many different types of humidifiers?
This time, for all of you who are having trouble choosing a humidifier, I bought a modern ``Ultrasonic Humidifier URHARBOR'', so I would like to use this product review as well as explain the different types that can serve as a guide for choosing a humidifier.
A review of the types of humidifiers
There are many different types of humidifiers, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
★Steam humidifier★
This type uses electrical heat to boil water and release the resulting steam.
It has a very high moisturizing power and works immediately.
However, maintenance is very troublesome, and if left unattended, limescale will quickly form on the tank.
Another drawback is that utility bills are quite expensive.
★Evaporative humidifier★
Humidification is achieved by using a fan to pass air through a sponge-like filter or nonwoven fabric that is saturated with water.
The steam that comes out is not hot, so it is safe. It is also energy-saving, so it is easy on the household budget.
The disadvantage is that the humidification is a little weaker than other models. Also, the housing tends to be large because it is powered by a fan.
★Hybrid humidifier★
It is basically the same as the evaporative type, but when the humidity level drops, it switches to another method such as steam. The disadvantage is that the structure is complicated, so the purchase cost is higher than other types.
★Ultrasonic humidifier★
This type uses ultrasound to break water into tiny particles, which are then released by a fan.
The benefits are numerous, and there is no need to boil water, so humidification begins immediately.
In addition, most of the products are generally compact, and because they are non-heating, you can add aromatic oils to enjoy the scent. Another big attraction is that they consume little power.
The downside is that if mold grows inside the tank, it will also release mold, but if you clean it regularly it should be fine.
Why I chose the ultrasonic humidifier "URHARBOR"
The reason I chose an ultrasonic humidifier comes from the fact that I had a lot of trouble with a steam humidifier in the past. The tank would quickly become covered in limescale.
Also, the constant booming noise, or rather a peculiar low tone, was stressful.
An ultrasonic humidifier can relieve you from such stress.
Anyway, it's very quiet.
It's almost silent. Sometimes the water makes a "splash" sound, but I like this as it's soothing.
And as soon as you turn it on, it starts humidifying the air with a lot of steam, something that heated air humidifiers just can't keep up with.
And perhaps because it's a non-heating type, the aroma of the aromatic oil is quite moody. For someone like me who loves fragrances, this is an irresistible element.
And this "URHARBOR" lights up in seven colors!
The tank is equipped with seven coloured LEDs, and the colours that appear in the water change gradually in a gradation.
The "Aroma & 7-color LED" gives me the best space in the room.
And the tank is large, holding 4L. As a rough guide, it will hold water for two days at normal power. *It also has a maximum operating time of 60 hours, which is an unusual specification!
What is the actual moisturizing effect?
This is just my personal opinion, but you may find the humidifying effect a little harder to feel than with a heated humidifier.
When you think of a humidifier, most people probably imagine the hot steam rising from a kettle of water boiling on the stove.
Of course, this humidifier also produces a bubbling sound.
However, this is not steam but "mist" (fog-like water vapor).
It's really cool.
At first I wondered if this was enough, but when I checked the hygrometer the humidity was definitely increasing, so I think it was effective.
However, I'm not sure how different it is from the heated version.
What's a bit strange is that I put this humidifier right next to my printer, and the A4 paper doesn't get all mushy. This is one of the things that makes me wonder if the air is really humidified...
Is it worth buying after all?
I recommend buying it. However, on a 5-star scale, I would give it 4 stars.
The reason it's not 5 stars is because of the aforementioned issue of "I wonder if this actually works as a humidifier...?"
However, even with that in mind, there are still many areas where I feel there are significant benefits, and I am generally satisfied.
If you look at design alone, there is another ultrasonic humidifier from another company, Yokizu's teardrop-shaped humidifier, which also has a very cute design.
The design is sure to catch your eye, and you'll often see them installed in fashionable shops.
The capacity is small so you will need to add water frequently, but if you don't mind that, it might be worth considering buying one.
Summary
There are many other good humidifier models, but it seems like ultrasonic humidifiers have a lot of advantages...
In particular, this "URHARBOR"
- Anyway, it is excellent in quietness
- Energy-saving
- The tank is large enough that you don't need to refill it frequently.
- Up to 60 hours of operating time
- And the "Aroma & 7-color LED" is attractive.
Because of all the above, I highly recommend this product!
If you are having trouble choosing a humidifier, I hope this article will be helpful.
